Bid braced: Klopp convinced £10m-plus wonderkid has skills to be modern Liverpool striker - report

Liverpool are stepping up their pursuit of Nottingham Forest wonderkid Ben Brereton amid competing interest from Arsenal, according to a report.
The Sun claim the Gunners sent scouts to watch Brereton, 17, in midweek as they join the race to sign the highly-rated youngster.
It is said that Forest are braced for bids of £10million-plus for the centre-forward who has emerged as one of the most exciting young players outside of the top division.
The Sun report that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is a big admirer of Brereton and is convinced he can be developed into a modern forward capable of fitting into his team’s playing style.
During Klopp’s 18-month tenure, the Merseysiders have frequently played without an orthodox centre-forward, with the versatile Roberto Firmino frequently handed the spearhead role.

The interest of Liverpool and Champions League rivals Arsenal has intensified since Brereton was promoted to the Forest first team.
The young forward, who is tipped to be a future England international, was promoted to the Forest senior squad in January and has taken the Championship by storm since making his debut at the end of that month.
Brereton underlined his potential with a dramatic injury-time winner in Forest’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa in February and showed that was not a one-off with further goals against Fulham and Brentford.
The youngster has only made 13 senior appearances but has already accumulated three goals and two assists for a team fighting against relegation.
Brereton played the full 90 minutes on Saturday as Forest gave their survival bid a huge boost with an unexpected 2-0 win against third-placed Huddersfield.
Forest have proved they can secure top dollar for the graduates of their productive academy after £13million spent by Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig for winger Oliver Burke last summer.
The Championship strugglers have also cashed in on other outstanding academy products in recent years, with Karl Darlow and Jamaal Lascelles joining Newcastle.
In other Liverpool transfer news, Chelsea have forced the Merseysiders to make a move for a 32-goal striker who is ripping up the top flight.
