Jurgen Klopp has stolen a march on sealing the signature of Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart, according to a report.
The 30-year-old proven top-flight performer is currently in Italy with Serie A side Torino until the end of the season, but the Sun details that he is now set to make a move to Anfield.
It is further claimed that he will cost the Merseyside giants as much as £20million, but Klopp has doubts about current goalkeeper duo Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet, who have both been dropped at various stages of the current campaign.
Meanwhile, Hart, who was dropped by Manchester City in the summer following the appointment of Pep Guardiola has made the number one spot his own in Italy, playing in 30 of Torino’s 32 Serie A matches this season.
However, he has kept just five clean sheets for the ninth placed side in those encounters, while conceding a massive 49 goals.
Football Insider verdict:
A goalkeeper is certainly a must for Liverpool once again this summer after the failure of Karius. However, Hart has been on a downward spiral himself for a number of years now and is almost a shadow of the shot-stopper that won the Premier League golden glove in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2015. Additionally, he is now a risk signing and the Reds simply can’t afford to take another one, specifically in the goalkeeper position as they look to finally make a challenge for the Premier League title under Klopp. However, one thing Hart does have on his side is experience and that could help Liverpool in the long-run, but it is thought that that the Merseyside giants must now be aiming higher than a player like Hart.
In other Liverpool transfer news, the Reds are pursuing this La Liga attacker according to Guillem Balague.
