La Liga expert verdict on Gil signing and if he can really be a Tottenham sensation

Bryan Gil is a “very, very talented player” who will shine for Tottenham in the 2021-22 campaign.

That is the view of former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell, who delivered weekly punditry for La Liga TV last season, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Spurs summer signing.

Tottenham confirmed the signing of Gil from Sevilla last month for a fee of £21.6million plus Erik Lamela.

The 20-year-old put pen to paper on a five-year contract in north London but is yet to report for pre-season training.

A five-times Spain Under-21 international, Gil is currently away in Tokyo representing his country at the Olympics.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs what Spurs can expect from Gil, Campbell said: “I have seen a lot of him and he is a really great signing.

“He is young, quick, direct, clever and will be a real handful in the Premier League. He is still so young so he is only going to get better.

“Last season he was out on loan and impressed. He has good energy and he will keep trying to beat his man.

“I know the Premier League is different but Gil is a very, very talented player. I expect him to do very well for Spurs next season.”

Speaking after signing, Gil said: “I’m very proud to join Spurs. To represent the badge of a world-class club like Tottenham and be able to play in the Premier League feels great.

“I’m coming to Spurs to win points and give everything in every minute.”
