La Liga expert wowed by Liverpool swoop for 'dream' Wijnaldum replacement
Kevin Campbell has heaped praise on Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez amid reported interest from Liverpool in his signature.
The former Arsenal striker, who delivered weekly punditry for La Liga TV last season, told Football Insider that the 26-year-old “would slot into Liverpool’s midfield like a dream”.
According to Madrid-based outlet La Razon, the Spanish champions are willing to allow Saul Niguez to move to Anfield for less than his £60million valuation.
The centre-midfielder still has five years remaining on his contract in Madrid, having signed a nine-year deal in 2017.
The Reds are expected to be in the market for a centre-midfielder this summer following Georginio Wijnaldum departure on a free transfer.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs whether Saul would be a good replacement for Wijnaldum, Campbell said: “He is a very good player.

“I have had a close eye on him for a couple of seasons now and he is so impressive. Technically he is superb but he is also tough.
“He would slot into that Liverpool midfield like a dream.
“I think he would be a great replacement for Wijnaldum. I imagine he would cost a fair bit though.”
Saul Niguez made 41 appearances across all competitions last season and helped Atletico Madrid win their eleventh La Liga title.
He has been capped 19 times by Spain but was not included in their squad for the Euros.
