Lawrence Shankland to Rangers deal now just hours away as 49ers ready to make decisive swoop
Lawrence Shankland could finally become a Rangers player, with a deal intended to be struck with Hearts before the end of the coming week.
The Ibrox outfit have already outlined the 30-year-old as their “top target” for the summer transfer window, according to the Scottish Sun, and are finally ready to get a deal for the striker done, after being heavily linked with him last year.
The Gers had the chance to sign the Scotland international on a free transfer, but he instead opted to pen a new contract at Tynecastle, and he spearheaded their push for the Scottish Premiership title this term.
Danny Rohl and Co. have a strong desire to get their move for Shankland finalised before he heads out to the World Cup, and it is even understood that they are looking to seal the deal in “the next 48 hours.”
Rangers’ transfer plans for the summer are set to see them overhaul their squad after a disappointing end to the campaign, and a new striker has been a clear priority for them in recent months.

His form in recent years has continually had Rangers on high alert over his services, and the 49ers are finally ready to make their move in the early stages of this summer.
Andrew Cavenagh recently suggested that the club hierarchy want to see a strong core of Scottish players instilled in the squad, and the impending swoop for Shankland would see them work towards that.
However, it appears that they will still have to battle if they are to prise the frontman away from Hearts ahead of next season.
Football Insider revealed back in April that Hearts have no plans to let Shankland leave this summer, as Rangers look set to face an element of resistance to their attempts.
