Tony Alderweireld has been outstanding since his summer move from Atletico Madrid

Sky Sports pundit Matt Le Tissier has named Tottenham defender duo Kyle Walker and Toby Alderweireld in his best Premier League XI so far.

The defensive pair have started all five of Spurs’ Premier League matches in the new campaign, starring in a defence which has conceded just two goals in their opening five matches.

Walker, 26, also contributes in the north London side’s attack and the full-back has provided two assists for his side in the early fixtures.

The duo were named in a defence alongside Southampton’s Virgil Van Dijk and Everton’s Leighton Baines, while Sunderland youngster Jordan Pickford was placed in goal.


Tottenham have started the new Premier League season in impressive form with three wins and two draws from their opening five matches, placing them in third place in the embryonic table.

The north London side finished third in the latest campaign and they will be keen to improve on that position.

However, they also have the added competition of the Champions League to contend in this season and Mauricio Pochettino will be looking to lead his side far against Europe’s elite.
