Leandro Trossard will explode at Newcastle United after reveal - pundit

Brighton winger Leandro Trossard could explode if he signs for Newcastle United in January.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Trossard’s future.

According to the Northern Echo (31 October), the Magpies are exploring the possibility of signing the 27-year-old in January.

Chelsea have also been linked with a January move for Trossard, along with London club Arsenal but Newcastle are said to be preparing to lodge an initial inquiry before the end of the year.

The Belgium international’s current contract at the AMEX expires in 2024.

McManus claims the attacker would prove to be another successful signing for Eddie Howe.

“Trossard has come alive this season, you just have to watch the performance he put in at Anfield,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“He caught a lot of people’s eye that day. 27 years old, he is a good age, the prime of his career. I think you have to trust Eddie Howe in the transfer market.

“He has mainly signed proven Premier League players and Trossard is certainly one of those. Dan Burn and Trippier are the ones you look at.

“Trossard has done really well at Brighton over a number of years, I don’t know how much it would take to get him but we know money is no problem for Newcastle.

“He would really add to their forward options and he’s someone else who could improve under Howe.”

Trossard has made 14 appearances for the Seagulls so far this season.

In those outings, he has scored seven goals and provided three assists.
