Leeds and Newcastle fans react after Alex Neil is sacked

By Dominic Toner

Norwich announced on Friday evening that they have sacked Alex Neil as manager, which has prompted reactions from Leeds and Newcastle fans on Twitter.

The Canaries confirmed on their official Twitter account that they have terminated the contract of the 35-year-old with immediate effect.

They have revealed that first-team coach Alan Irvine will take charge of Norwich’s Championship clash at home to Blackburn on Saturday.

Neil has left Carrow Road after a mixed spell in time of the club.

He guided Norwich to promotion from the Championship in 2015, before suffering a relegation from the Premier League at the first attempt last season.

Norwich were expected to be in the promotion picture this campaign but have fallen just short and are eight in the league table, nine points adrift of the play-off spots.

Two of the clubs above them this season, Leeds and Newcastle, are both vying for promotion to the Premier League.

Their supporters voiced their opinions on social media following the sacking of Neil.

Norwich will now be on the search for a new permanent manager and will surely look to go again next season.

Meanwhile, Leeds are right in the promotion picture and currently occupy a play-off spot.

The Whites have found great success under summer appointment Garry Monk, who has become a very popular manager at Elland Road.

Newcastle are currently at the top of the Championship and are in pole position to secure automatic promotion.

The Magpies and Norwich were both relegated from the Premier League last season, but the latter have parted ways with their managed after failing to secure an instant return.

In other Leeds news, the club’s supporters have urged Garry Monk to recall their midfielder against QPR.
