Leeds backed to seal four January signings after Hay transfer update today - pundit

Leeds United need to make “three or four signings” in the January window, according to Kevin Campbell.

The former Arsenal and Everton striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted Marcelo Bielsa’s side cannot “rely on babies” in the relegation fight.

The Whites currently have 10 players sidelined through injury or illness.

The Athletic‘s Phil Hay revealed (22 December) that he expects at least one signing to arrive in the mid-season window.

He added that a midfielder will likely by the priority given previous failed moves for Michael Cuisance, Conor Gallagher and Lewis O’Brien.

A Leeds source told Football Insider (16 December) that the club are continuing to keep tabs on Reading’s John Swift.

When asked by Football Insider how many players Bielsa needs to add to his squad next month, Campbell said: “I think they need three or four signings.

“That’s of course if they can get the right players. They need to beef that squad up.

“If you are relying on babies coming in and performing in the Premier League you are making your life difficult. If you have players who know the game, who are playing with a bit of experience, it gives you a better shot.”

Marcelo Bielsa’s side are 16th and five points above the relegation zone but have played three games more than 18th-placed Burnley.

A trip to Liverpool is up next for the Whites on Boxing Day.
