Exclusive: Danny Mills tears into Eddie Nketiah

Danny Mills has ripped into Eddie Nketiah by claiming he’s been Leeds United’s biggest disappointment this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Elland Road defender claimed the on-loan Arsenal centre-forward has failed to live up to his reputation as an outstanding young player.

The England Under-21 international has scored five goals for Leeds despite being overlooked from the starting XI of all 20 of their Championship matches this season.

Nketiah, 20, was on the bench once again in Leeds’ 2-0 Championship win at Huddersfield on Saturday, replacing Patrick Bamford with 13 minutes remaining.

Asked by Football Insider who has been Leeds’ most disappointing player this season, Mills replied: You have to say Eddie Nketiah. He came in with a big reputation, had a good record at Arsenal for their U23s and in cup games.

“Scored in cup games, did okay when coming on but hasn’t done it when given extended run-outs and full halves.

“He has had limited opportunities, but we haven’t really seen much from him when he’s had those opportunities.

“And when you come from a big club with a big reputation, you have to perform, and you’d have to say if anyone has been below par, it’s Eddie Nketiah based on the performances he has had.

Nketiah has made 14 appearances for the Yorkshire giants this season, spread across 454 minutes of action.

He has been used as a sub 12 times in league games, but Bamford has started all 20 league matches and Arsenal may recall him from his season-long loan in January.
