Paul Robinson has tipped Tottenham to follow up their Jack Clarke capture by making a move for Leeds United loanee Ben White.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and Leeds goalkeeper claimed he is in “no doubt” the Londoners are scouting the 22-year-old as they search for a new centre-back.
White has made a huge impact in a Leeds side that have conceded just 10 goals from 19 Championship matches since joining on a season-long loan from Brighton and Hove Albion.
Football Insider revealed in October that Liverpool are keeping close tabs on White and they have earmarked him as a potential superstar.
Robinson is convinced Tottenham will also be monitoring the young Englishman as they look for replacements for Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld.
Asked by Football Insider who is the dream signing for new Spurs boss Jose Mourinho, Robinson said: “Depending on Vertonghen and Alderweireld, I wouldn’t mind seeing him strengthen at centre-back, somebody like Ben White at Leeds, somebody of that quality would be a great addition.
“I’ve no doubt for one minute the Spurs scouts are looking at him because he stereotypically the type of player that Spurs want to sign – a young, talented player.
“Whether Mourinho wants that or whether he wants some ready-made, world-class star that we know, I think he needs to strengthen on the back four.”
Tottenham have already signed one player this year after he caught the attention of their scouts with his performances for Leeds.
United academy product Clarke was prised from Elland Road in the summer for an initial £9.5million before being loaned back for the rest of the season.
In other Leeds United news, there are growing whispers from Elland Road that Victor Orta is looking at three potential January signings.
