Liverpool have pinpointed defender Ben White as a potential superstar following his stunning Leeds United exploits, Football Insider has learned.

The Premier League leaders are one of a number of leading Premier League clubs keeping close tabs on the centre-back during his season-long loan at Elland Road.

A Liverpool source has told Football Insider that their recruitment department have had their heads turned by the Brighton & Hove Albion loanee.

He is said to have scored excellent data metrics on Liverpool’s sophisticated tracking tools and is being bracketed among players who may be a “superstar on the way up”.

This comes after Football Insider revealed in October that Jurgen Klopp’s European champions have started keeping close tabs on the 22-year-old.

Liverpool have perfected the art of signing rising stars rather than established ones, with the likes of Andrew Robertson, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino particularly strong examples.

White had never played a Premier League or Championship match until this season, but has made remarkable progress since being taken under the wing of Marcelo Bielsa and his coaching staff.

His awareness, mobility, timing and outstanding distribution is gaining him new admirers by the week.

Liverpool are not the only leading Premier League club alerted to the displays of White, with Manchester United among those also watching him closely.

He has started all 19 of United’s Championship matches this season and been part of a defence that has remarkably conceded only 10 goals, comfortably the best in the four professional English divisions.

Football Insider revealed in August how Leeds had been blocked by Brighton from sealing a full-time White move during summer negotiations.

This is the third loan of White’s career after previous spells in League One and League Two with Peterborough United and Newport County respectively.

In other Leeds United news, Football Insider can reveal a major NEW Eddie Nketiah transfer development from today.
