Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to call for Pablo Hernandez to be handed a new contract by the club hierarchy.

Hernandez was in outstanding form on Saturday as United secured a 2-2 Championship draw against Reading at the Madejski Stadium.

Recalled to the starting XI after initially being on the bench for the comprehensive home defeat to Wolves, Hernandez put Leeds 2-1 up with a brilliant second-half finish as well as creating five chances in the match against Reading, more than any other player on the pitch.

The attacking midfielder, 32, is out of contract in the summer and can leave Elland Road on a free contract.

But the Spaniard has spoken publicly of his desire to extend his stay at Leeds into a third season and director of football Victor Orta has revealed that talks will take place with his agent about an extension.

Leeds fans delivered a unanimous verdict on social media in the aftermath of the Reading match, as they urged owner Andrea Radrizzani to ensure Hernandez is tied to a new contract.

Some even insisted they would not renew their season tickets until they had been assured that the veteran was staying.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
