Leeds suffered another loss under Paul Heckingbottom last night, although the 1-0 scoreline at Villa Park wasn’t as bad as a lot of people had feared.
One player came in for a huge amount of criticism though – striker Caleb Ekuban, who has now scored just one goal in 18 Championship games.
The 24-year-old had another poor display last night but Heckingbottom persists in playing him, hopeful he can find his feet before the end of the season.
That didn’t happen last night and after Lewis Grabban put the home side ahead in the 29th minute, Leeds rarely looked like getting back into the game.
Ekuban was taken off at half-time and Samu Saiz was introduced, but even he couldn’t inspire them back into the game.
Leeds fans will be wondering how many more chances Ekuban is going to get, although unless he resorts to youth, Heckingbottom doesn’t have that many options with neither Jay-Roy Grot or top-scorer Pierre-Michel Lasogga looking like scoring either.

It’s a real problem that desperately needs addressing in the summer but in the meantime Leeds fans took to Twitter to destroy Ekuban.
Here are the best reactions to his latest shocking display for Leeds:
Ahhh come on the game had gone by then. Heck took of Ali for Grot and both Pablo and Saiz were suffering with their delivery. What service did Lassoga get or chances?! Ekuban should be your focus…totally usekess and the touch of a blunt instrument

Ekuban has to be the worst striker in the history of Leeds united what I would give to have Billy Sharp or Chris Wood back #lufc #LeedsUnited

Ekuban and Grot were probably bought for thier potential. Its clear that there isnt any…yet. Time away on loan might be best for them.

A terrible showing from Ekuban aswell Popey let's not forget that. Roofe can't play up front on his own and another manager comes in and tries it. You just can't write it

Ekuban had a shocker, being removed at half time said as much. Grot equally while Lasogga not interested. With all 3 struggling surely the time now to give Dalby, Clarke & Edmondson a go. Maybe even Sarkic too

Right enough of the fucking shite Grot Ekuban and the German are pure shite Pennington wouldn't get a game in the N.ireland league let's get the kids in for the last few games because they might be are salvation next season

And Ekuban isn't just inexperienced he's hopeless. Can't pass, can't dribble, can't beat his man. His pace can get him onto a through ball but he can't do anything with it. If our recruitment of strikers is anything to go by I'm not expecting much from Tyler Roberts either.

I’m actually can’t believe how bad Ekuban is at first I though unlucky now it’s crystal clear… he’s not even national league level.
