Leeds United fans have responded with excitement on Twitter after Paul Heckingbottom suggested Jack Clarke could soon be fast-tracked into the senior team.

Leeds fans have been clamouring on Twitter for Clarke to be given his chance and it looks like that might be just round the corner, after a string of impressive displays from the young forward for the Under-23s.

Clarke, 17, tormented the Cardiff City defence in a development side match at Thorp Arch last Friday and created both of Leeds’ first two goals in their 3-0 triumph, which was their fourth consecutive win.

Talking at the pre-match press conference ahead of the clash with Bolton on Easter Friday, Heckingbottom admitted that the wonderkid could get his chance soon.

“He [Clarke] is possibly the next one in,” said Heckingbottom as quoted by Leeds Live, “but he’s got a lot of competition in front of him.

“Done well for a long time though. Been performing well. The club needs to manage him properly and there will come a time when he’s dipped into it.”

Many United fans are calling for Heckingbottom to fast-track Clarke into the senior XI following recent promotions for fellow academy products Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Tom Pearce.

They are convinced the youngster is a “great talent” and predict “carnage” if he is promoted and responds with a goal.
