Leeds fans react on Twitter to Huddersfield draw v Sheffield Wednesday in play-off semi-final

By Amir Mir

Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday recorded a goalless draw in the first leg of their play-off semi-final on Sunday afternoon – and Leeds fans have reacted on Twitter.

David Wagner’s side had the better of the opportunities as Wednesday were happy to settle for a draw going into the second leg at Hillsborough next Wednesday.

The home team had 69 per cent of the possession added with the fact that they recorded 12 shots to their rivals three.

The Yorkshire duo are one of four teams hoping to join the already promoted, Newcastle and Brighton in the Premier League next season.

Reading secured a 1-1 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday afternoon as both play-off encounters are in the balance.

Garry Monk’s side missed out on the top six when four defeats in April saw them drop out of the promotion places.

They finished five points outside of sixth-placed Fulham as their fans mocked Huddersfield for not being able to sell out their play-off fixture.

Added to that, the Elland Road faithful were edging towards supporting Wednesday as they were backing them to reach the final at Wembley.

Carlos Carvajal’s side were beaten in the play-off final last term when Steve Bruce’s Hull recorded a narrow 1-0 win.

They have since been relegated back down to the Championship after they were beaten 4-0 at rivals Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Nonetheless, the Leeds fans were clearly backing Wednesday during the match as they were critical of the Terriers for not selling out their home tickets.
