Victor Orta has said that he will begin talks with Pablo Hernandez’s agent immediately as they look to reach an agreement on a contract extension – and Leeds fans are delighted.

Hernandez is out of contract in the summer and has said that he wants to stay at the club, although no offer has been made to him yet.

Talking at a live Q&A for the LUTV app, Orta confirmed that he would be talking to his agent as the first step in reaching an agreement.

He also said that it was something that would need looking at quickly, as he acknowledged that the player would be out of contract in June.

The quotes were reported by Phil Hay from the Yorkshire Evening Post on his Twitter account on Monday lunchtime.

One fan said it was great news, while another said they should give him the keys to the city.

Another said he was the second or third best player at Leeds and that Leeds should give him what he wants.

It is positive news for Leeds fans and Hernandez though and Orta also confirmed that manager Paul Heckingbottom would be involved in the discussions.
