'Brilliant news', 'Don't tease me' - Leeds fans in meltdown over reported senior man interest

Leeds United director of football Victor Orta has been linked with a move to Spanish outfit Deportivo La Coruna and supporters of the club are in absolute meltdown on Twitter.

Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, as translated by Sport Witness, has claimed that Orta could quit Elland Road and English football all together in wake of the interest.

The La Liga side are believed to want the Spaniard to replace Richard Barra who left the club in January, as they prepare for life in the Segunda Division.

The ever-unpopular Orta is not a favourite of the Whites faithful and as a result, it’s news that fans have greeted.

After joining the Yorkshire outfit from Middlesbrough – where he was accused of being one of the main failings in Aitor Karanka’s regime in Teesside – the Whites senior man has continued to disappoint.

Club owner Andrea Radizzani has shown his faith in Orta after he oversaw arrivals last summer and January too.

Arrivals of the likes of Felix Weidwald, Jay Roy Grot and Mateusz Klich overseen by Orta have created the growing unrest at Elland Raod.

It would appear that their celebrations are somewhat premature though.

Phil Hay, chief sports writer for the Yorkshire Evening Post Tweeted his update on the situation and shed some light on the sitation.

He wrote, “Orta has connections on those parts and Deportivo need a DOF. But at the moment, Leeds expect him to be here for the summer window.”

Here is a selection of Twitter reactions from Leeds fans to the reported departure of Orta:
