Pierre-Michel Lasogga seemingly put paid to any hope of Leeds taking up the option to make his move to Elland Road permanent when he sent an Instagram Story on Friday.
The message, taken with his family from Leeds airport, was captioned with the word “goodbye”.

The surprise message brings the curtain down on a brief Leeds career which started brightly, before imploding – a fairly accurate microcosm of the season that his team has just suffered.
Lasogga arrived from Hamburg on loan in the summer, and scored two goals in his first game – the 5-0 win against Burton.
He only managed to add another eight across all competitions for the rest of the season, a total that just wasn’t good enough for a player who’d come from the Bundesliga.
Lasogga was dropped for other strikers including Jay-Roy Grot and Caleb Ekuban, but they actually fared worse than him.
Some Leeds fans thanked him for his service and wished him all the best in his future career, but others, predictably, weren’t quite so complimentary.
Here are the best reactions to his farewell message:
Good luck. #mot

Looked a great loan at the time (as did Pennington). Two more players to add to the list of those who flopped at Elland Rd.
