Leeds fans react on Twitter as Christiansen hands debut to 21-year-old v Newport

By Harvey Byrne

Leeds manager Thomas Christiansen has decided to hand young striker Eoghan Stokes his senior debut in Tuesday evening’s clash against Newport – and Whites fans on Twitter are excited to see what he can offer.

The 21-year-old forward made the switch to the Yorkshire giants in 2012 on scholarship terms from Dublin side St Kevin’s Boys Club.

He has now had to wait five years to made his first senior appearance for the club and he was handed the opportunity as Christiansen changed up his side to face the League Two outfit with fellow youngsters Conor Shaughnessy and Madger Gomes also included in the starting eleven.

Stokes has been given the chance to lead the Leeds line with former striker star Chris Wood departing for the Premier League and Burnley earlier in the week.

Fans of the Yorkshire giants are now keen to see what the young Irishman has to offer with many eager to see the first steps of another player through their youth ranks.
