Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to wonder about whether Marcus Antonsson could return from his loan spell after scoring twice in Blackburn’s win against Bury on Saturday.
Antonsson, 26, was sent to Ewood Park on a season-long loan in the summer and grabbed the attention of the Whites faithful this weekend by scoring first-half brace in a 3-0 win away at Bury in League One.
The Swedish forward barely got a look in at Elland Road last season and with Thomas Christiansen overseeing an overhaul of the first-team squad in the summer, Antonsson was one of the players who found himself on the chopping board.
The ex-Kalmar striker didn’t really get much of a chance under Garry Monk’s leadership, making just 21 appearances across all competitions with most of them coming off the bench.
Leeds are currently struggling for goals with Pierre-Michel Lasogga, Pawel Cibicki and Jay-Roy Grot being less than impressive since arrived in the transfer window, so that has led supporters to play with the idea of Antonsson returning.
Here is a selection of their tweets:

Why did we waste money on Grot and Cibicki when Antonsson is better than both ? Hope we get him back soon [ Jan at latest ] #LUFC

Hopefully Antonsson becomes a bit of a Somma. Run of games helping him now and similar would benefit Grot and Cibicki #lufc

Antonsson is on for a hat-trick. Granted, it's against Bury. But he's having a great season and looks to be enjoying his football. #lufc

Antonsson has made 15 appearances for Blackburn across all competitions this season, scoring six goals in the process.
His double on Saturday was the first time he has found the net since September and that helped his side up to sixth in the League One table.
In other Leeds United news, fans have urged Christiansen to start this fringe player against Middlesbrough.
