Leeds fans react on Twitter to Vieira omission v Preston

By Harvey Byrne

Young midfielder Ronaldo Vieira was left out of the Leeds line-up to face Preston on Monday afternoon – and Whites fans are disappointed with the decision on Twitter.

The 18-year-old has started the club’s last five matches and is looking likely to develop into a star for the Yorkshire giants.

He has also featured in 19 fixtures in total this season, but with Liam Bridcutt returning to the side after injury Garry Monk has decided to drop Vieira to the bench.

The return of Bridcutt has been received well by many supporters on social media, but the majority feel that Vieira is better than other midfield starter Kalvin Phillips.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Vieira made his debut for Leeds at the end of the last campaign as an 89th minute in the 1-1 draw against Preston.

He has enjoyed the majority of his playing time this season in a successful midfield, which sees Leeds currently occupying fifth place in the Championship.

The Yorkshire giants will now be keen to pick up all three points against their Lancashire counterparts at Deepdale, who are currently nestled in 11th place.
