Leeds fans tear into 31-year-old on Twitter after disastrous display

By Harvey Byrne

Leeds fans have torn into Brighton goalkeeper David Stockdale after his disastrous display between the sticks on Friday evening.

The 31-year-old shot-stopper played a big role in putting Norwich 2-0 up before half time as two long range efforts cannoned onto him from the woodwork and rolled back into the net, resulting in two own goals.

The two mistakes ensured that Brighton had too much to do to even claw back a point at Carrow Road with the match finishing 2-0, meaning the south coast side will have to wait a bit longer to find out whether they’ve secured the Championship title.

The experienced Stockdale will want to put the moments behind him, but onlookers were keen to point out his mistakes on social media, including the Leeds support.

One fan asked whether they could sign him and then play him upfront, while another one hailed him as the games man of the match.

The result has not had a bearing on Leeds with eighth placed Norwich unable to catch them in seventh with just two games for the Canaries left.

But, the Yorkshire giants will now be aiming to find their way back into the top six with Burton coming up next on Saturday.
