Leeds United manager Thomas Christiansen has confirmed that he held talks with Ouasim Bouy about the midfielder’s future at the Yorkshire giants on Friday.
Bouy, 24, was signed up by Leeds in the summer but was instantly sent out on loan to Cultural Leonesa in the Spanish Segunda Division, however after several months of his temporary deal, he has returned to Elland Road after making just four appearances in all competitions.
Now, Christiansen has admitted that he does not know much about the former Netherlands youth international and has confirmed that he will try to offload him on another temporary deal this month.
“It’s a player that I didn’t really know much about,” said Christiansen about Bouy, as quoted by LeedsLive in their coverage of his press conference on Friday ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup clash with Newport County.
“It’s a good player, it was my first talks with him today.
“The idea is to find him another loan.”
Bouy has since been replaced with Yosuke Ideguchi on loan at Cultural Leonesa as Leeds exploit the recently announced partnership they have struck with the Aspire Academy.
The former Juventus enforcer does not appear to have any place in Christiansen’s first-team plans at the moment though and it seems unlikely that he will be given a chance to shine against Newport this weekend.
Football Insider verdict
Leeds’ transfer activity has been brilliant but odd at times. Christiansen worked alongside Victor Orta to overhaul the first-team in the summer but the Elland Road chiefs have also strengthened their development team with talent from overseas and have signed up players that have been instantly loaned out. Leeds’ ambition is no doubt to play in the Premier League, so signing players that need even appear to be ready for the Championship makes zero sense. Bouy’s arrival in Yorkshire was bizarre and the fact he didn’t get to play much in Spain’s second tier says a lot about his potential ability.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are in pursuit of this Premier League left-back who had Juan Mata in his back pocket last week.
