Exclusive: Leeds line up bid for top flight left-back in brilliant form
EXCLUSIVE By Pete O’Rourke
Leeds United are lining up a January bid for Rangers loanee Declan John as they look to solve their left-back problems, Football Insider sources understand.
Leeds have been alerted to John’s performances since he joined the Scottish giants on loan in August and they are weighing up a move for the Wales international, 22.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the defender has caught the eye of Elland Road scouts with two goals and one assist in five Scottish Premiership games and he has made an instant impression at Ibrox with a series of excellent performances.
John is in the final year of his contract at Cardiff and the Bluebirds could decide to try and cash in on him in January rather than allow him to run down his contract next summer.
Left-back has been a problematic position for Leeds this season with the club yet to find a full-time replacement for Charlie Taylor following his move to Burnley.

Midfielders Vurnon Anita and Stuart Dallas have been pressed into emergency left-backs in the absence of the suspended Gaetano Berardi and the injured Cameron Borthwick-Jackson.
Leeds lost both games to Sheffield United and Derby County when Anita and Dallas both filled in and Whites boss Thomas Christiansen accepts he needs a solution to his problems at left-back.
John joined Rangers on a season-long loan deal on transfer deadline day after finding himself out of favour at Cardiff under Neil Warnock.
In other Leeds United news, two key players are in a race for fitness for United’s clash against Brentford tomorrow.
