Leeds make emphatic decision about signing midfield icon - reliable journalist

Leeds are not looking at the possibility of re-signing Norwich midfielder Jonny Howson, according to a reliable journalist.
Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Phil Hay has claimed on his personal Twitter account that the 29-year-old Elland Road icon is not being targeted by the Yorkshire club for what would be a sensational second spell.
A Leeds supporter asked Hay about the club’s possible pursuit of Howson after reports last week that the Championship giants were preparing a £4million summer bid for the goalscoring midfielder.
“People at Leeds I have spoken to say he is not someone they are targeting,” Hay responded to the supporter on his personal Twitter account.

Playmaker Howson was a regular feature for a Norwich side that struggled to make an instant return to the Premier League following their relegation last summer.

Howson played 38 Championship games for the Norfolk side, who finished one place and five points behind seventh-placed Leeds.
The former England under-21 international has made a mammoth 219 appearances for Leeds, scoring 27 goals added with his 22 assists.
The boyhood Whites fan left Elland Road in 2012 for Norwich, who were heading to the Premier League at that time under Paul Lambert.
Howson’s contract at Carrow Road is due to expire in 2019, with Leeds keen to add quality to their squad after missing out on the play-off places by five points this season.
Football Insider verdict:
Howson returning to the club would be a good signing by Leeds given the quality he can bring and the association he already has with the fans. He has played over 100 games in the top flight since leaving Elland Road and can no doubt bring that experience back in helping the club make their own return to the Premier League. Not only that, he would add quality to the middle of the park and add some much-needed goals and assists. The Whites have relied too heavily on Pablo Hernandez as they need someone to push the Spaniard for a first-team spot.
In other Leeds transfer news, Andrea Radrizzani has gone to huge lengths to keep this senior man at the club.
