What lies ahead for the future of Leeds United is anyone’s guess – but the decisions that are made in the boardroom this summer will have a big say in what happens next season.
Everyone at Elland Road, from the very top to the fans in the stands, will have been bitterly disappointed by what has gone on this campaign, with early hopes of a play off finish sunk by the team’s appalling run of form.
The Whites have only picked up three wins since the start of 2018 after seeing Thomas Christiansen sacked at the start of February, and the appointment of Paul Heckingbottom simply has not had the desired effect.
The former Barnsley boss has come under heavy fire from some corners of the Leeds faithful and although the club have not taken any action prior to the end of the campaign, it certainly seems as though there may well be some conversations over his future in the end-of-season debrief.
Whether or not the stunning developments at Sunderland on Sunday change any minds awaits to be seen – but it certainly should be taken into consideration.
The Championship’s basement club have endured a disaster of a campaign since slipping out the Premier League and will drop into League One in their second successive relegation – but they will do so with new owners and a new manager, confirming via their official Twitter account on Sunday that Chris Coleman has left.

Coleman appears to be collateral damage from the change of ownership, and although Sunderland were dire this season, his stock will likely be high.
His work with the Welsh national team deserves huge recognition and with the right backing could result in success for whichever team takes a gamble on his capture.
After Leeds’ lack of success this year, that is definitely a risk worth taking, but it means taking immediate action, binning Heckingbottom and snapping up Coleman before anyone else takes advantage.
