Leeds United striker Caleb Ekuban has claimed that fellow forward Pierre-Michel Lasogga is set to be out of action for the next few weeks despite manager Thomas Christiansen stating something different.
The German striker, who is on a season-long loan at Elland Road from Hamburg SV, missed the club’s 2-1 win over Middlesbrough on Sunday, with Kemar Roofe taking his place in the starting XI.
Christiansen claimed that the 25-year-old was missing through illness and that he, along with the entirety of the Whites’ squad, are fit ahead of the club’s visit to Molineux to take on league leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday.
The boss’ update came after Ekuban made the surprise revelation that his striking counterpart could be out of action for longer than expected, telling the Yorkshire Evening Post at Tuesday’s press conference that the club find themselves in: “a situation where Lasogga was out for a couple of weeks.”
Ekuban made a return from a broken foot, which came in his first league appearance for the club since his summer move, in the win over Boro, to take his total number of outings to three for the campaign.
Lasogga meanwhile has been a regular in the first team line up during his loan spell, with five goals in 10 appearances, all of which have come in the starting XI.
