Leeds United accelerate cut-price Lois Openda loan-to-buy deal

Leeds United are keen to try and secure the signing of Juventus striker Lois Openda on a loan-to-buy deal this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The Italian giants are keen to move the Belgian on this summer, but are hoping to recoup as much of their £35million outlay as possible, and would prefer a quick and immediate sale.

However, the Whites would rather delay any option of a purchase until later down the line, and sources say that they are hopeful that they may be able to secure a reduction on the fee.

Daniel Farke’s side have had success when it comes to signing players from Serie A of late, but they have already made it clear that they are not willing to pay as much as £35m for the 26-year-old.

Leeds’ transfer plans have seen the addition of a new striker become a top priority for them ahead of the window, but they still have work to do to sign Openda.

Leeds United already in contact for Lois Openda deal

Openda’s permanent move to Juventus was recently triggered by the automatic purchase clause in his initial loan switch from RB Leipzig, but things haven’t gone to plan for him at all in Turin.

The former Club Brugge man notched 55 goal contributions in all competitions across his two full campaigns in the Bundesliga, but has managed just two for Juventus this term.

The Old Lady are trying to find a way to offload him as a result, and Leeds have already taken the first step towards trying to strike a deal.

Reports in Italy last week suggested that Leeds have already made contact over a deal for Openda, with Premier League rivals Bournemouth also following suit.

French side Rennes are also showing a keen interest to try and sign the frontman this summer, as a battle looks set to ensue for his signature in the coming months.

Juventus are totally compliant with the idea of moving him on ahead of next season, but they are likely to demand a significant financial commitment from any club who wants to get a deal over the line.

Which other strikers are the Whites targeting?

Troy Parrott has also emerged as a key striker target for Leeds in recent weeks, with former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown recently telling Football Insider that he expects them to be “all over” a move for the Irishman this summer.

The AZ Alkmaar star is attracting interest from a whole host of Premier League clubs, after a season that has seen him hit 30 goals in all competitions for the Dutch side.

Leeds have been heavily linked with the 24-year-old in several of the recent transfer windows, but Alkmaar have been able to cling on to their star man on every occasion.

However, that could be set to change this summer with the level of interest in his services rising drastically in recent months, and Leeds expected to be towards the front of the queue to sign him.

Providing more goalscoring support for Dominic Calvert-Lewin is one of the West Yorkshire outfit’s biggest ambitions for the summer, and Parrott could yet become their man.
