Pundit backs Marcelo to snub Everton and sign for Leeds as transfer plot reported
Leeds United is a more attractive destination than Everton for Real Madrid left-back Marcelo.
That is according to ex-Whites goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the Mirror reported on 12th June that both clubs are interested in the 33-year-old.
The 58-cap Brazil international's contract expires next summer and he is understood not to be in Carlo Ancelotti's plans ahead of the 2021-22 campaign.
Leeds may be in the market for a new left-back because, as revealed by this site on 4th June, Ezgjan Alioski is yet to accept a new and improved contract offer.
Kenny admitted he was excited at the prospect of Leeds signing such a distinguished player and claimed that he would likely choose Elland Road over Goodison Park.
He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: "I rate this. What a player he has been and what a career he's had.
"With Bielsa, they've got a chance at pulling that one off. He'd be an unbelievable signing, for me.
"Everton have stalled a bit at the moment. But Leeds are up-and-coming. So as it stands, it would have to be Leeds because they're a club on the up compared to where Everton are at the moment.
"They play with a lot of freedom as well which Marcelo will like."
But, as revealed by this site the following day, they face stiff competition from Wolves, Arsenal and Aston Villa in pursuit of the 28-year-old.
