Leeds United are setting their sights on Rangers star Borna Barisic as they step up their left-back hunt, Football Insider can reveal.

The Yorkshire giants have made a new senior left-sided defender a priority in the summer window.

A source has told Football Insider Leeds talent spotters will watch Barisic in action for Croatia in their Euros opener against England tomorrow.

International broker Simon Conning has been mandated to sound out interest in Barisic.

Conning has a proven track record of placing Croatian players in the UK, including at Premier League clubs.

Barisic, 28, played 50 times across all competitions for Rangers as they secured a historic 55th league title and reached the Europa League quarter-final.

He is under contract with the Ibrox giants until the summer of 2024.

Leeds are in desperate need of a new left-back with Ezgjan Alioski's future still unclear.

Barisic is more experienced than the pair having racked up 112 appearances for Rangers and 20 caps for Croatia.

He has been given the number three shirt for the Euros and is expected to play a big role after starting both of their pre-tournament friendlies.
