Leeds United have registered their interest in Huesca left-back Javi Galan as they explore alternatives to Stade Brest star Romain Perraud, Football Insider has learned.

That could force Leeds to bring in a cheaper option at left-back for next season as they look to replace exit-bound Ezgjan Alioski.

A Leeds source has told Football Insider that the club have approached Galan's representatives to discuss his situation this summer.

The defender, 26, is of interest to other leading clubs including Sevilla after his release clause dropped from £7million to £3.5million.

That has opened the door for Leeds to make a move for Galan, whose contract at Huesca expires in the summer of 2022.

The Spaniard cannot match Perraud's goal creating statistics for last season but he is also an attacking weapon.

According to WhoScored, only Lionel Messi (159) completed a higher number of successful dribbles than Galan (121) in the recently-completed La Liga season.

He has spent the last two years in the Spanish top flight after initially making his mark in La Liga 2 at Cordoba.

Like Alioski and Perraud, Galan is able to operate in more advanced left-sided positions and has often played wide midfield.

Leeds have made the capture of a new left-back a priority in the summer window after Alioski failed to accept their contract offer.
