Leeds United will look to explore alternative targets after their latest Romain Perraud talks with Stade Brest, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

But a Leeds source has told Football Insider that there has been frustration over the asking price set by the Ligue 1 club for the French full-back.

Stade Brest have told the Premier League club they want between £15-18million for the former France Under-20 international.

That is more than Leeds are willing to pay for a player without senior international or Champions League experience, and who has only been playing in the French top tier for two seasons.

United are working to a transfer budget and director of football is keen to do the bulk of his summer transfer business by the end of June.

The Yorkshire giants have been keeping close tabs on Perraud all season.

He shone during 36 league appearances for a Stade Brest side that narrowly avoided relegation, with three goals and an eyecatching seven assists from defence.

Perraud is under contract at the French club until the summer of 2025 after signing a two-year contract extension in January.

Leeds have prioritised the signing of a new left-back in the upcoming transfer window with Ezgjan Alioski expected to depart at the end of his contract next month.

United have offered Alioski, who has been offered terms by Galatasaray, an extension but he has yet to commit to it.
