Leeds United could 'cash in' on Rodrigo Moreno in 2023 amid Jesse Marsch reveal - pundit

Kevin Campbell has claimed Rodrigo Moreno is facing a “make or break” season at Leeds United.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker suggested the Whites would sell the 31-year-old next summer if he fails to impress this term.

Rodrigo has failed to live up to expectations at Elland Road following a club-record move from Valencia in August 2020.

The Spain international scored a hat-trick against Cagliari on Sunday as Leeds finished their pre-season in style.

As quoted by Leeds Live (1 August), Jesse Marsch revealed he has “a good relationship” with Rodrigo.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of Rodrigo ahead of the new Premier League campaign, Campbell said: “It’s a make or break season for Rodrigo.

“He has two years left on his contract so he needs to perform.

“I think we will see him shine this season. This is the money season for him. If he does not do well, the club may look to cash in next summer when he has a year left.

“If he shines though, he will probably get a new deal. He would have a bargaining chip.

“I think it is a big season for him. It is good that he has got a good pre-season in as well, that will help.

“He is an excellent player when he’s on form. He has not quite done it in the Premier League yet though.”
