Leeds United have been linked with Lois Openda in recent days as they look to reinforce their frontline.

With Premier League survival almost secured, Daniel Farke is now preparing for the upcoming campaign.

A new striker is reportedly one of their biggest targets in the summer transfer window, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s form falling off.

Now, Calcio Mercato.it has claimed that Leeds are showing interest in Openda, in what could be a loan deal with the option to buy.

While his form has dipped dramatically in the last couple of seasons, Farke’s work with Calvert-Lewin proves that Openda could be a sensational Leeds signing.

Daniel Farke could turn Lois Openda into a star

There is no question that Openda has fallen off in recent seasons.

The 26-year-old has only found the net twice this campaign for Juventus, and netted only 13 goals last season for RB Leipzig.

In comparison, in each of his previous three seasons, he found the net at least 21 times.

However, if Leeds do go through with the transfer, there is every chance that he would become a hit.

Upon the Peacocks bringing in Calvert-Lewin in the summer, the striker was in a similar situation and had not scored double-figure goals for four straight campaigns.

So far for Leeds, he has netted 11 times, and there is still plenty of time left this season for this to increase further.

Therefore, Farke has already proven that he can take an out-of-form striker and turn him into a massive asset, and this could easily happen with Openda.

What do Leeds’ striker ambitions mean for Joel Piroe

Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Joel Piroe will be allowed to leave Leeds in the summer.

Piroe has struggled for opportunities at Leeds this season, despite firing them to the top flight last term with 19 league goals to win the Championship golden boot.

To date, he has only played 13 times in the Premier League, with only two of these being starts.

As a result, if a new striker, such as Openda was to move to Leeds, his game time would only be slashed further.

Therefore, it looks extremely likely that the star will be moved on from Elland Road this summer.
