Leeds United employee issues 'huge' Junior Firpo verdict after crushing confirmed news
Noel Whelan has called on Junior Firpo to step up and turn in some better performances for Leeds United after Stuart Dallas’ devastating leg break.
The former Whites striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 25-year-old is under “huge pressure” after the veteran’s injury blow.
Dallas, 31, was injured in a collision with Jack Grealish as Leeds United 4-0 against Man City on Saturday (30 April).
The former Brentford man suffered a femoral fracture and will undergo surgery, as confirmed by the club in a statement yesterday (1 May).
Firpo replaced the utility man during the game after recovering from his own fitness issues.
Whelan insisted the former Barcelona man must now show why Leeds United paid £12.6million for his services.

“He’s got a huge amount of pressure on his shoulders now,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“He’s got to get better and get a continuous run of games under his belt – and put some proper performances in.
“It’s got to be more consistent from Firpo – both going forward and defending.
“This is the part of the season now where we need the real heroes of the season to step up, because we all know the situation we’re in. It’s a real dogfight down there now.
“We need Firpo to come in and play at the top of his game and show the form which made us sign him in the first place.
“That left-back spot is up for grabs for a long time if he wants it, so it’s up to him now to put some serious performances in and give this team a massive lift.”
Football Insider medical expert Ben Dinnery today (2 May) claimed that Dallas could be out of action for at least six months.
Leeds United are now just two points adrift of the bottom three with four games remaining.
Firpo has made 16 league starts in his first season for the Whites.
