Leeds United employee salutes Tyler Adams as 'shock' new details emerge
Noel Whelan has hailed Tyler Adams after “shock” new stats revealed him to be the second-most effective creator at Leeds United.
The former Whites striker and club ambassador, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the attacking side of the 23-year-old’s game “goes unnoticed” because of his tireless defensive work.
As per TheOther14 on Twitter (21 September), Adams ranks joint-11th for the most open play chances created this season outside the top six clubs – having laid on eight opportunities for his Leeds United teammates.
That statistic puts him on par with Premier League creators like Jesse Lingard, Pedro Neto, and Joe Willock.
Jack Harrison comes in at joint-fourth in the rankings, having converted his 11 chances created into three assists so far this term.
Adams joined Leeds United in the summer window for a reported £20 million and has started each of the Whites’ six Premier League games this term.

Whelan hailed the US international’s “bravery” to get forward from a defensive midfield position and “make something happen”.
He told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think if you asked anybody, they wouldn’t come up with that stat.
“They’d probably say Aaronson is our most creative influence – so that might come as a bit of a shock.
“He does a lot of defensive work, and the attacking side of his game goes a little bit unnoticed because of how hard he works in that midfield.
“This just goes to show he’s not just a one-trick pony. He’s there to provide creativity as well as a real presence defensively.
“He’s brave enough to get forward and get into the right positions to make something happen.”
