Leeds United news: 'Daft' Jesse Marsch is talking 'absolute tripe' as new claim emerges - Mills

Jesse Marsch would be “daft” if he did not pay attention to the results of the sides around Leeds United in the relegation battle, according to Danny Mills.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites and England defender insisted Marsch’s claims that he is only focused on his side are “absolute tripe”.

As quoted by Leeds Live yesterday (28 April), the 48-year-old revealed he did have the “energy” to look at how other clubs are doing.

The Yorkshire giants are just five points clear of Everton in 17th-place who have a game in hand.

They face league leaders Man City on Saturday (30 April) having been beaten 7-0 in the reverse fixture.

“Of course he will look,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Just like when every single player says they don’t look at the papers or social media or the league table or the next two or three games.

“It’s absolute tripe. If you’re down there and you play at 3 o’clock the first thing you do after winning a game is ask ‘How did everyone else get on?’ It’s the first question you ask.

“It’s a media spin to say ‘We take one game at a time’. No, you don’t, that’s also nonsense.

“Especially as a manger you’re looking ahead because you’re looking at fitness levels and who you’ve got coming up. If you’re not looking ahead you’re daft.

“It’s pure media spin. You are looking at what others are doing because when they do you’re all going ‘Yes, get in. That gives us a bit of breathing space’.”
