Leeds United midfield target Michael Olise has an £8million release clause in his Reading contract, Football Insider can reveal.

This site first revealed Leeds’ interest in the Frenchman, 18, in early August as they looked to strengthen in midfield during the summer window.

United did not recruit a central midfielder after their pursuit of Michael Cuisance collapsed at the eleventh hour but they are still in the market for one going into 2021.

A recruitment source told Football Insider that Olise remains a top target for Leeds amid growing uncertainty over his Reading future.

He will enter the final 18 months of his contract in January and has yet to sign a long-term deal.

That has opened the door to suitors, with Premier League clubs including Liverpool and Arsenal as well as top sides across Europe among those linked with Olise.

Football Insider’s revelation over the release clause will be of great interest to those teams, and will increase the pressure on Reading to tie down their prize asset.

Olise has graduated from the Reading youth team to establish himself in the senior side.

The central midfielder, who can also play in attacking midfield, has made a huge impact this season operating mainly in more advanced roles.

He has started all nine of Reading’s Championship matches, scoring two goals and supplying three assists.

Capped by France at Under-18 level, he has how accumulated 37 first-team appearances for Reading.

Olise is contracted to the second-tier outfit until the summer of 2022.
