Leeds United are on the hunt to add a new striker to their squad this summer, and Burnley’s Zian Flemming could be their man.

The frontman saw his relegation to the Championship with the Clarets confirmed after their defeat to Manchester City in midweek, but that does not tell the full story of his first season in the Premier League.

The 27-year-old has struck nine league goals for Scott Parker’s struggling side in his debut campaign at the top level of English football, and he has proven that he is capable of being an effective top-flight option.

Flemming’s form in front of goal is sure to see him attract plenty of interest away from Turf Moor this summer, and Leeds should be among those who are looking to offer him the chance to stay in the Premier League.

Leeds’ hunt for a new striker to provide further support for Dominic Calvert-Lewin is already ongoing, and they could do far worse than exploring a potential move for Flemming ahead of next term.

Daniel Farke already has a new frontman towards the top of his summer shopping list, as he is keen to add another quality option to lead the line for next term.

Calvert-Lewin has surprised many with his 11-goal tally, but a strong understudy is needed as he has shown that he still has that streaky nature in his game, which can often lead to barren spells.

However, given that the Whites are only likely to be looking for a backup option, they will not want to spend big to bolster their forward ranks, and that is where a move for Flemming could come in.

He has been one of the Championship’s best players in recent years, and he adapted to the Premier League in impressive fashion.

The Dutchman is currently outperforming his xG by over two goals, with no current Leeds striker outperforming his own tally, and his conversion rate of 19.6 per cent is stronger than Calvert-Lewin’s.

Throw in the fact that he has achieved all of that in a relegated team who are also the league’s second-lowest scorers, and he could be the kind of finisher who could thrive at Elland Road.

How much would a move for Flemming cost Leeds?

Burnley’s fight for survival has ended much earlier than they would have hoped, and they are set to be faced with a rebuild job upon their return to the second tier.

The Clarets will be hopeful of keeping hold of their key players to try and launch an immediate bid for promotion, but they will surely be susceptible to any Premier League interest.

Parker’s side splashed out £7million to sign the frontman from Millwall last summer, but they would surely be looking to make a sizeable profit on him if they were to be forced into a sale.

Nevertheless, Leeds should surely be able to tempt Burnley into business for below the £20m mark, a figure which should be seen as a snip compared to some of the alternatives on the market this summer.

It remains to be seen whether Flemming will emerge on the transfer radar at Elland Road, but his stats clearly show that a move for him could be a shrewd piece of business this summer.
