Leeds tipped to sign game-changing striker after source's reveal - pundit

Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Leeds United to sign a game-changing striker on loan this month.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed there are question marks over the fitness and form of their current options up front.

Marcelo Bielsa revealed on Sunday (9 January), via Leeds Live, Patrick Bamford has picked up a fresh injury after recovering from a hamstring strain.

As quoted by the same outlet in his pre-game press conference, the Leeds boss revealed Tyler Roberts and Joe Gelhardt are set to be out for three weeks.

Meanwhile, Rodrigo has not featured for the Whites since the end of November with a heel problem.

A Leeds source told Football Insider on Tuesday (11 January) Bielsa can only make loan signings this month due to financial fair play restrictions.

“It doesn’t really matter if it’s on loan or permanent, it’s about getting the right players in,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“You want to get players who are going to change their fortunes and change the team, not just players you bring in for the sake of it.

“I’m sure he’ll be looking to get the right players in. 100 per cent, they need a striker.

“I’m worried about Bamford being out for so long, Roberts is not Premier League quality and Rodrigo is hit and miss.

“They definitely need another striker, for sure.”

Raphinha is Leeds’ top goalscorer this term with eight goals in 17 Premier League games.

Last season Bamford scored 17 times in the top-flight for the club.
