Leeds tipped to sign top-class midfielder after Hay's Forshaw update - Agbonlahor
Leeds United will still try and sign a top-class midfielder despite Adam Forshaw edging closer to a first-team return.
That is according to ex-Aston Villa and England forward Gabby Agbonlahor, speaking exclusively to Football Insider as the 29-year-old featured in pre-season for the Whites.
Forshaw came off the bench as a young Leeds side beat Guiseley 3-2 on Tuesday (27 July) evening.
He has not featured for Marcelo Bielsa’s senior side for almost two years after struggling with a hip injury.
The Athletic‘s Phil Hay reported today (28 July) Forshaw remains a favourite of the Leeds boss and the club are “quietly confident” he could make an impact next season.
Leeds have been linked with numerous midfielders this summer as they look to become less reliant on Kalvin Phillips.

Asked whether the return of Forshaw could change their transfer plans, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “He could be given a chance to show what he can do.
“But if you’ve not been playing for so long in the Premier League you need to be bang at it. You’ve seen what it’s like, every game is losable.
“I’m sure he’ll be given a chance but I don’t see Leeds relying on him, I’m sure they’ll bring in more players who have been playing more regularly.
“The pre-season games will be a big indication.”
Forshaw has just 12 months left to run on his Leeds contract.
He has played 52 times for the Whites across all competitions but has not featured in the Premier League for the club.
