Phillips tells Leeds to 'go and get' Lang after source reveals pivotal transfer update

A move for Dutch forward Noa Lang is a “no-brainer” for Leeds United.

That is according to ex-Premier League goalscorer Kevin Phillips, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest in Leeds’ pursuit of Lang.

An industry source told this site on 24th June that Leeds have been given encouragement that the Club Brugge man is keen to join this summer.

Preliminary talks have been held with the 22-year-old over a deal and the latest from the source is that those discussions have gone well.

The Holland Under-21 international spent 2020-21 on loan with Club Brugge from Ajax but is set to join permanently in July for around £6million.

But the Belgian club are willing to sell Lang on for a quick profit and Leeds would be smart to capitalise, according to Phillips.

“On paper, it sounds like a no-brainer,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“Go and get him. If the player wants to come then make it happen. He’s got Champions League experience as well.

“It’s a different kettle of fish when you come to Leeds but if he is linked then they will have done their homework.

“Bielsa’s not daft. He wouldn’t bring someone in if he didn’t think they had it in them to step up.

“So again, it could be another signing that we don’t know an awful lot about that comes over and does a good job.

Lang, who is known for his great pace, made 38 appearances in all competitions for Club Brugge as they won the league title in 2020-21.

Those appearances yielded 17 goals and 11 assists.
