Sources: Leeds make contact with Galan and discuss how he would fit into Bielsa's team

Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has been in contact with Huesca left-back Javi Galan ahead of a potential move, Football Insider has learned.

This site revealed on 2nd June that United had registered their interest in the La Liga star, 26, after their pursuit of Stade Brest’s Romain Perraud hit a stumbling block.

A Leeds source has told Football Insider that Bielsa has been in touch with Galan to discuss how he could fit into his team next season.

The United manager has a detailed plan for each of his transfer targets, including their playing role and development plan.

Galan is now considered the first choice left-back target although Leeds are aware of rival interest in him.

Huesca are expecting the defender to leave Sevilla this summer after his release clause reportedly dropped from £7million to £3.5million.

That has opened the door for Leeds to make a move for Galan, whose contract at the Spanish side expires in the summer of 2022.

United have done business with Huesca before after signing Samuel Saiz in the summer of 2017.

Galan is an attacking left-back who has an all-round game that could fit in well at Leeds.

According to WhoScored, only Lionel Messi (159) completed a higher number of successful dribbles than Galan (121) in the recently-completed La Liga season.

He has spent the last two years in the Spanish top flight after initially making his mark in La Liga 2 at Cordoba.

Like Ezgjan Alioski, who has yet to accept an improved Leeds offer, Galan is able to operate in more advanced left-sided positions.

Leeds have made the capture of a new left-back a priority in the summer regardless of what happens with Alioski.
