Noel Whelan stunned by Dallas as 'amazing' Leeds footage emerges

Stuart Dallas is loved as much in the Leeds United dressing room as he is on the terraces – footage of the club’s award ceremony proves that.

That is according to ex-Leeds forward Noel Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Leeds’ handed out their annual end-of-season honours last night.

Dallas was the evening’s star man, scooping the Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year and Goal of the Season awards.

The Northern Ireland international started all 38 of Leeds’ top-flight games in 2020-21, scoring eight times and registering two assists.

Reacting to footage of the ceremony, Whelan claimed that his teammates’ reverence for the 30-year-old midfielder was plain to see.

“They absolutely appreciate his influence off the field,” he told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.

“At the awards, you could see on the faces that every single player was glad for Stuart Dallas. Some were actually bowing down to him.

“I think it’s the appreciation of the effort he’s put in this season and the roles he’s played, he’s never let them down.

“He was my player of the season last season, and he’s definitely emulated that and more with what he’s done this time around.

“With his goals, assists and performances, he’s been ‘Mr. Consistent’ and one of the most amazing, standout performers.

“He’s kept his standards very high and you can see that with the reaction from the rest of his teammates.”

Dallas signed for Leeds from Brentford in 2015.

He missed just one league game over the past two seasons and racked up 230 appearances for the club in total.
