Whelan: Leeds United have just sealed 'the signing of the summer' after cut-price deal done for 'phenomenal' Harrison
Leeds United have sealed the “signing of the summer” with the permanent capture of Jack Harrison for around £11million.
That is according to ex-Whites striker Noel Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the capture of the winger from Man City.
Harrison was announced as Leeds’ second signing of the window last Friday following three seasons on loan from the Premier League champions.
The wide man has signed a three-year and joined in a deal worth around £20m in fee and wages.
That is a price well worth paying, according to someone who has seen every match Harrison has played in a Leeds shirt.
“£10-11million for a player like Jack Harrison, wow, that’s phenomenal business in today’s market,” Whelan told Football Insider.

“Credit to the club for negotiating the permanent option before he had proved himself in the Premier League.
“But most of the credit has to go to Marcelo Bielsa and the player himself. Mr Bielsa has transformed him from an inconsistent but exciting player into a Premier League star.
“He is a matchwinner now, a reliable player who creates and scores goals, works his socks off for the team and fits perfectly into the team that Leeds have created.
“He’s different to Raphinha, who beats players with skill and pace, but extremely effective.
“This is amazing business from Leeds. At that price, it’s the signing of the summer by any team.”
Since first joining Leeds on loan, Harrison has played 128 times for the club, scoring 18 goals and laying on 20 assists.
He became the second United signing of the week following the earlier capture of another attacker, Amari Miller.
