Daniel Farke will thank his lucky stars Leeds' move for 28-year-old collapsed
Daniel Farke will thank his lucky stars that Leeds United's interest in Ermedin Demirovic came to nothing during the summer.
Several clubs from around Europe were eyeing up the 28-year-old striker, who notched 15 goals and four assists for VfB Stuttgart in 2025-26.
His current campaign is off to a rocky start, though. Other than a hat-trick against Viking in the Champions League, he has one other goal.
The international break could have been the perfect chance for him to reboot, and show teams exactly what they missed out on during the summer.
It hasn't quite worked out for the centre-forward, though, going four straight games for Bosnia and Herzegovina without a goal in the Nations League.
Undoubtedly, Leeds will be keeping an eye on his performances, just in case of further interest in the future, but it's a good thing that no move ever materialised.
Leeds United dodge bullet with Ermedin Demirovic
In his latest display for Bosnia, Demirovic played 78 minutes during a 1-0 win over Poland, picking up a caution before being replaced.
In that time, he touched the ball just 15 times, completed just five passes, only had one shot off target, and completed just 0 per cent of his dribbles [FotMob].
With his one shot, he created an xG of just 0.11, while winning 0 per cent of his ground and aerial duels, and committed two fouls, possibly out of frustration.
When Stuttgart were asking for north of £20million, Leeds have definitely saved their dosh for another transfer window, which can be spent elsewhere.
Demirovic is likely to end the campaign with close to 20 goals, if not more, but his struggles on the international stage sum up why he would flop in the Premier League.
Daniel Farke faces frustrating striker situation
The free move for Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been a masterstroke from those behind the scenes at Elland Road, with 19 goals in 46 games.
But beyond him, there aren't too many options at Farke's disposal. Football Insider understands that Leeds plan new contract talks with Lukas Nmecha.
However, Mick Brown told Football Insider that the 27-year-old is "unhappy" in West Yorkshire, likely due to his limited minutes.
Harry Wilson and Noah Okafor can play through the middle, but Farke desperately needs a new figure as Calvert-Lewin's back-up.
