Gabriel Gudmundsson's fitness is once again a major talking point after limping off during Leeds United's clash against Liverpool.

The 27-year-old full-back missed Leeds' most recent pre-season friendly, beating Bundesliga giants RB Leipzig 2-0 on Saturday, 8 August.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin fired home after just seven mintues, and after a tough-to-watch game at Elland Road, Lukas Nmecha notched a second in added time.

Daniel Farke has been without multiple big names, such as Ilia Gruev and Noah Okafor, but that is nothing new for the manager at Elland Road.

During the 2025-26 campaign, hamstring issues became a trending topic in West Yorkshire, with Gudmundsson sometimes suffering from issues.

Frustratingly, that appears to be continuing into the new season, and Football Insider has looked into which games the 27-year-old could miss.

Gabriel Gudmundsson out for three weeks

Following the win over RB Leipzig, Farke confirmed to the media that the Sweden international would be sidelined for three weeks.

If that timeline is to start from the pre-season friendly, that would see him return before Leeds' Premier League clash against Brentford on Sunday, 30 August.

However, until then, the Whites have several matches remaining, including some key pre-season games to prepare for the new campaign.

August

- 12 August: Club friendly, Manchester United (A)

- 15 August: Club friendly, Augsburg (H)

- 22 August: Premier League, Nottingham Forest (A)

- 24 August: Carabao Cup, Nottingham Forest (A)

Following the Carabao Cup draw, Leeds must now face Forest twice in three days, and Farke would certainly hope to have more options available.

Could Gudmundsson still leave Elland Road?

Although rumours surrounding Gudmundsson's future have gone cold, there is likely to still be lingering interest in the 27-year-old.

Football Insider revealed last month that Leeds were prepared for interest to intesify, and it would be a surprise if the club's resolve was not tested.

While he only notched one goal and one assist in 35 games last season, his first in England, he was a key figure at Elland Road.

Supporters will desperately be hoping that his pre-season injury woes stay in pre-season, and he can return to the lineup as quickly as possible.
