Harry Wilson will join Leeds over Aston Villa, this is why - expert

Harry Wilson has decided to join Leeds United over Aston Villa because of a better promise of game time under Daniel Farke.

Wilson was a standout throughout last season for Fulham but was unable to fire them to European qualification.

His future has been up in the air over the last few months as he nears the expiry of his Fulham contract.

Leeds have been battling the likes of Aston Villa and Everton for his signature, and are now in pole position after agreeing personal terms.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that a move to Elland Road appeals to Wilson because he will be a regular starter.

Villa have qualified for the Champions League ahead of next season, but still have quality in wide areas and are expected to make several attacking signings.

Wilson is 29-years-old and coming off the best season of his career so far, so wants to continue playing every week rather than sitting on the bench.

This is why Harry Wilson wants Leeds move over Villa

Sources have told Football Insider that Leeds have also offered hefty contract terms to Wilson to convince him to make the move.

He registered 11 goals and eight assists in 41 appearances last season, and is expected to be one of the first names on Daniel Farke's teamsheet if he does officially sign soon.

"Maybe he (Unai Emery) doesn't think he's got the ability. When I've spoken about them before and about people like him…they do well at clubs like Fulham," Brown exclusively told Football Insider.

“Harry Wilson will always have takers, because I think he's in that bracket of Leeds, of Fulham, of middle-table teams, and he's an asset to them.

“If he goes to Villa, or something, is he going to play in the team? I'm not so sure.”

Which other attackers are Leeds targeting this summer?

Farke wants to bolster his attacking depth this summer after the Whites were heavily reliant on Dominic Calvert-Lewin's goal contributions last season.

With Wilson set to join in the coming days, Leeds have also been closely linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Julian Brandt.

Brandt, 30, is leaving Dortmund this summer after registering seven goals and five assists in 29 Bundesliga appearances last term.

Despite their interest, sources have revealed to Football Insider that Leeds will struggle to sign Brandt this summer due to his contract demands.
