Leeds could be forced to sell Tarik Muharemovic next year, he's getting too good
Tarik Muharemovic is quickly emerging as one of the Premier League's most talented defenders following his move to Leeds United.
At just 23 years of age, the centre-half has already established himself as a regular in the Bosnia and Herzegovina squad, which went to the 2026 World Cup.
Last season, Joe Rodon's serious injury would have put a huge dent in Leeds' aspirations, but they've been holding strong with Muharemovic.
Daniel Farke was understandably frustrated when the defender's mistake led to James Trafford losing his clean sheet against Newcastle United, but that's always possible with a young player.
Muharemovic already looks to be an unstoppable force, being joined by Nico Elvedi and James Justin at the back, and Leeds are lucky to have him.
He arrived at Elland Road on a £34.1million deal from Sassuolo in the summer, causing multiple European giants to regret not moving quicker.
Tarik Muharemovic is already attracting attention
In fact, those interested previously, such as Inter Milan and Newcastle United, are believed to still be keeping an eye on his development.
Any move just months after his arrival in the Premier League, though, would have to cost a fortune. Leeds won't want to lose him already.
That's the nature of football, however. When a player is uncovered as a hidden gem, clubs come knocking at the door, even if he's hardly settled in yet.
The Whites are now faced with a conundrum - keep Muharemovic for the foreseeable future, or cash in next summer at an eye-watering price.
Raphinha remains Leeds' record departure, joining Barcelona for a total package of £55million in 2022, but that could soon be broken.
Who else could Leeds United lose?
Muharemovic is not the only players being linked with a departure, with several stars attracting attention, thanks to Leeds' success.
Keith Wyness has told Football Insider that Leeds will reject £50m for Ethan Ampadu, but Chelsea have been urged to pay over the odds for their former midfielder.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin also has suitors, but the Whites are understood to be planning talks with the centre-forward after his free transfer.
Dan James and Lukas Nmecha could both be on their way out, but neither would fetch much of a transfer fee.
